The Black Agricultural Ecosystem (BAE) gathered on the Oregon Coast for the first of three planning retreats facilitated by Asia Dorsey from Regenerate Change.
Our time together allowed us to:
- Build relational soil, group cohesion, and trust.
- Shape the container of BAE through the development of intentional practices for conflict transformation and the cultivation of three tools to help the group fight right.
- Develop a collective vision of BAE and begin to define our values.
BAE will gather in person for two more planning retreats in 2024. These gatherings are made possible through the support of Meyer Memorial Trust and the Justice Oregon for Black Lives initiative.
About BAE
The Black Ag Ecosystem (BAE) is a group of Black-led organizations including the Black Oregon Land Trust, Black Food Sovereignty Coalition, Feed’em Freedom Foundation, Mudbone Grown, Black Futures Farm, and Come Thru Market.
We work collectively to support Black-led transformation in Oregon and Washington. Each organization focuses on different, though often overlapping, components of the work (network building, education, capital, land, markets, etc.), and we collaborate to build synergy among our efforts.
